By Freda Graves
Networking is just as important today as it was 5 or 10 years ago. The
art of networking is to Give Share and Serve. By giving value to your
connections you will begin to see the shift in the type of connections
you make. As with any marketing you do for your business it is a matter
of trail and error, but if you have the proper tools to network like a
celebrity you will begin to see the shift in your efforts. Here are tips
to help you become a networking celebrity.
* Have a plan ~ Before you attend your next event have a plan in place.
Know who your target market is and what it is that you want to get from
the event you are attending.
* Be yourself ~ Networking can sometimes seem intimidating at times. But
if you just be yourself you will shine bright. People can tell when you
are not being sincere.
* Get involved with your organizations ~ Don't just join a group to
join. Become an active member. Volunteer on a committee. Connect with
the members of the group or organization. Get to know the leader of the
group or organization.
* Become a go to person ~ Become the person that is referred to when
someone needs something. People will start to see you as a person of
value.
* Do what you say ~ If you tell someone you are going to do something do
it. Being a person of your word lets people know you are trustworthy.
* Give back to your community ~ Becoming an active member in your
community lets people know you committed to making change. These
organizations will list your company name on their site which will bring
you added exposure.

helps your business gain visibility. Speaking to groups or organizations
will help you become a leader or expert in your field.
Giving value to your connections lets them know that you believe in
their business and want them to be successful in business and in life.

member of the group. Serve your organization. By doing these things you
will shine bright. Networking is more than just showing up. You have to
